"Tree City USA: A Bike Tour of Poughkeepsie's Leafy Streets" D ride, 12 miles, Terrain 1-2

Starting Place: Arthur S. May Elementary School, Raymond Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 1 2603. Starting at 9:00 AM to hopefully beat any real heat of the day, this ride will visit the Arlington area and Poughkeepsie southside neighborhoods. We'll start near Matthew Vassar's college and pedal past where he had his summer home, Springside, and go by Poughkeepsie's very first bike path, built in the exuberance of the 1 970s environmental awareness. Poughkeepsie is actually designated a "Tree City USA" because of its proportion of trees and and we'll hit the neighborhood of the State Champion Butternut Tree. You cannot make this stuff up.
